Although the Warsaw Ghetto uprising has been extensively documented, little is known about Jewish resistance outside of Warsaw during World War II. This text fills the gap by telling the story of Jewish armed resistance in the Polish forests, in Polish partisan and commando units, in cities like Cracow/Plaszow and Czestochowa, and in prisoner-of-war camps and extermination camps, including Treblinka and Sobibor. We find here not only a fresh analysis of the military aspects of the Warsaw rebellion, but the storyat once improbable and courageousof a resistance hindered by the isolation and vulnerability of the participants. Photographic dust jacket. Not price clipped. Various scuffs and marks. Various closed tears and creases. Black paper covered boards with gilt text to spine. Large crease across top of front board continuing to spine, which is split at top. Text block is clean and tight.
