A very rare publication from the printer J Bailey, who published from at least 1819 to 1844, also as Joseph & H. W. Bailey, Bailey & Hunt, and Bailey & Co; this item's date is approximately 1825-1830. A similarly-titled publication (but with different contents) was sold by Dean & Munday in the early 1830s, and is more commonly found today. As far as has been researched, the J Bailey edition is a unique item for sale on the internet. The contents are randomly organised, to say the least. As can be seen from the main image it covers diet and health, making perfumes, forecasting the weather, mending china, making wax, staining furniture, making cheap recipes, managing bees, managing household expenses, destroying vermin, and to "make the famous German Fire-ball". There is also a section on "Secrets Relative to Metals" which is a sort of watered-down alchemy. These and many other pieces of advice, all in 68 small pages.
