This volume seems to have late eighteenth century poets and poets from the first half of the nineteenth century. It includes the comment that 'Our poetry owes many beauties to womanly genius', and includes long forgotten names like Charlotte Smith, Anna Seward, as well as better known names like Ann Radcliffe, and an extensive number of male writers, from James Beattie to Owen Meredith (with Keats etc as well). Many of the poems are preceded by an appropriate engraving. The lesser known poets are an interesting inclusion. Leather covering to wooden(?) boards; gilt decoration and ribbed spine, with spine and edges noticeably worn, and a small 4 cm tear on the top of the spine; gilt edging to all pages. Binding tight despite cracking on front hinge. Endpapers have noticeable foxing; this foxing is present to a lesser extent through much of the book, though rarely interfering with readability. For its age, good.
