This 'pictorial edition' of c.1890, 'with engravings by the first artists', includes a 142pp anonymous 'memoir' of the poet, and all his poetical works, including 'Don Juan' and some 'attributed poems', with editorial notes (pp1-345). The 'Directions to the Binder' refer to 33 full-page b&w engravings; all are present. This volume includes in addition 'Bryon Illustrated in a series of twenty engravings by artists of eminence, designed as a supplement to the pictorial edition', with unpaginated notes on the works they illustrate. The binding was done by 'Soulby, Bookbinder, Ulverston' and consists of marbled front and back boards, with maroon-leather half-binding and corners, with gilt text and raised and decorated bands on the spine. Spine is rubbed and corners are bumped; marbling slightly worn - otherwise binding in good condition for its age. Gilt edges still shine. Stitched binding generally tight, with some tears.
