This jigsaw features an image of a stylised owl and flora that is taken from the extensive archive of the Victoria and Albert Museum. The illustration is taken from an embroidered wall hanging that was created by Henry Dearle in c. 1895. The design was intended to be sold in the form of a kit by Morris and Co. Dearle began working for the company in 1878 and his talent for drawing was swiftly recognised and he became tapestry apprentice to Morris himself. The jigsaw has 1000 pieces and the work features an owl surrounded by acanthus leaves and various other plants including honeysuckle and tulips. The box contains a large scale poster of the finished image so that you can work on the puzzle from that and use the lid and bottom section of the box to help sort the pieces of the jigsaw. When completed the jigsaw measures 68cm x 48.5cm Measurements (box) 25.3cm x 33.5cm x 5.5cm
