The Navy as I Have Known It 1849-1899 - Admiral Honourable Sir E.R. Fremantle. Published by Cassell and Company Ltd., Hardback with dust jacket, No publishing date, but internet research shows it to be 1904. This is a chronicle of Sir Edmund Robert Fremantle's (18361929) career, starting with his leaving school and joining the Royal Navy, and finishes with the end of his career and some thoughts on his experience. A chapter is dedicated to each deployment and geographical area. Fremantle rose through the ranks; in 1867 he was promoted to captain, and was promoted to admiral in 1896 and retired in 1901. Fremantle went on to join the British Fascists, formed in 1923. Condition: Good. Tanning and foxing are present throughout, but chiefly the end papers and page margins. The tissue paper covering the photo plate opposite the title page is also foxed and tanned.
