Divided into two sections, the first contains his correspondence in chronological order, the second a selection of letters on scholarly subjects. Illustrated with several b&w plates. Hardback with dust jacket in protective cellophane sleeve. Small crease to lower edge of jacket. Bound in burgundy boards with gilt lettering; minor shelf wear with some white dusty marks. Contents clean, bright, and unmarked except for some highlighting in pencil. Several newspaper reviews have been pasted in to the front and end papers, with dates written in ink.
