A facsimile copy of a book translated from the French in 1892 by Lady Colin Campbell offering itself as the indispensable companion of very well-bred lady at the close of the nineteen century. In chapters devoted to each part of the female form, details guide the reader through a variety of imperfections and treatments for them without every venturing upon too much scientific explanation. As well as being highly informative on its intended subject, the book also divulges a great deal about the society of the day. Numerous pages of advertisements offer everything from carpet sweepers to wart removal. Nothing was more important to a lady than to be seen to be a lady and this is the book that showed them how. Very Good Condition though the dustjacket is slightly worn and the rough-cut pages show very slight damage to the edges.
