The artist, Tony Meeuwissen, won The D&AD Gold Award Black Pencil for this projectthe first illustrator to win the award. Transformation cards became briefly popular in the early 19th century, incorporating thepipsor symbols of the suites into fantastic designs recalling medieval illuminated manuscripts. This work is Meeuwissens modern interpretation of the genre, with an illustrated book containing associated verse. Hardback book and complete deck of cards, all in slipcase. Moderate shelf wear to case with slight bumping to extremities and a few small dents. Dustjacket also slightly shelf-worn, with very small tear to head of spine and rubbing to corners.
