The House With The Echo by Theodore Francis Powys. This Dorset-based son of a clergyman signed limited editions of many of the eerie novels and quirky short stories that he wrote before the Second World War. Most of the titles he signed were issued in batches of at least 500 copies and several stretched to 750. This collection of short stories and a few of his other books appeared in signed limited editions of only 200 copies. All were signed and numbered by the author in a statement on the limitation page. This first edition from 1928 is numbered 29 in ink above the author's signature. The 200 signed copies of The House With The Echo, plus six more reserved for private circulation, were bound differently from the unsigned majority. Those reached shops in a plain, dark cloth binding with a dust jacket. All of the 200 had bright card covers, text block with the top edge gilt and no dust jacket.
