Tasting Notes This truly is the spirit of Japan. Already renowned whisky experts Suntory almost broke the spirit world when they released Roku Gin. Now theyre back with a brand new vodka.; Haku means white but it can be read in Japanese as brilliant. Brilliant by name and brilliant by nature Haku Vodka starts its life as a handful of rice grains in Kagoshima on the island of Kyushu. Suntory choose the finest white rice or hakumai which is milled and polished to perfection. This is then fermented with koji. Koji is a magical ingredient made from cooked rice inoculated with cultures; without it wed have no sake soy sauce mirin rice vinegar or miso. This is then distilled once in a copper pot still and once again in a column still. This spirit is then transported to Osaka to be filtered through bamboo charcoal to remove any impurities or imperfections.
