In full leather with blind stamped decorations on the front and spine with gilt decorations on the rear. A panel on the front board reads: "Presented to St Thomas Chapel Ryde, from William Benett Player Brigstocke Easter 1876." The corners are bumped and worn with some minor scrapes on the front board and one larger scratch on the rear. There is wear along the hinges and at the spine ends with a spot of what might be candle wax at the top of the spine. The front board and spine are sunned while the rear board retains its original colour, consistent with the volume having been in church use. The endpapers are marbled with the flyleaf partly loose. The front hinge has split along the inside but remains attached, while the rear hinge is slightly weak but holding. There is an inscription from Mr & Mrs Player Brig
