Illustrated. No ISBN. This is a reproduction of a 15th-century Flemish Book of Hours made for William, Lord Hastings. Books of hours are Christian prayer books which were used to pray the canonical hours: the divisions of the day in terms of fixed times of prayer at regular intervals. William Hastings, 1st Baron Hastings (c. 1431June 1483) was an English nobleman. A loyal follower of the House of York during the Wars of the Roses, he became a close friend and one of the most important courtiers of King Edward IV, whom he served as Lord Chamberlain. Hastings was beheaded by the order of the Duke of Gloucester, later King Richard III.
