An illustrated reference book which aims to reveal the wide range of English apples and their distinct colour, shape and taste. Included is a brief history of the apple in England and an essay on apple growing techniques. 122 varieties of apple are reproduced in watercolour drawings with a description of each apple, together with a line drawing of its cross-section. Signed on the half title page by Rosanne Sanders. First edition hardcover in dust jacket, not price clipped. Both book and jacket are a bit bumped around the edges and corners, and the spine of the jacket has faded slightly. There is a little spotting around the edges of the page block, but the contents of the book remain fresh, with the lovely colours full. 142 pages. Size 28.9 x 24.6 x 2.1 cm.
