It ends with a poem celebrating the arrival of a baby brother who does away with the need for fairies as companions. The book was published in an American edition in 1918, with a different cover. Alice P Moss also published The Dream Garden, and Other stories (1904); under her married name, Alice P. Nowell Price, a book of poems, The Cardinal's Coach and other poems (1927). Sybil Barham trained at the Herkomer Art School, London, and worked as an illustrator. This is a charming example of fairy stories set in Edwardian middle-class life. Scarce. Green cloth binding; front cover has a 3-colour image framing the title; spine has floral motif; back cover has publisher's logo.
