Classic work, leather bound -Calf? , with marbled endpapers and red page block. 4 illustrations. Front hinge has cracked but pages still bound in. The spine is loose but still attached on one side. 4 Illustrations, and a page before the title page reading 'John Allen His Book Mayye 1767. A later addition on the same page reads 'John Allen my son Thomas Allen Died July 21 1772. ' After the main volume (337 pages) there are another 46 pages of Meditations and Prayers for Sick Persons by George Stanhope. This binding includes a repair to another title page, two pages in. generally clear text with some brown marks and fading. Pages all appear present. Pages 297 to 315 have a circular tear out of the top, with some brown marks (damp?) at that point on p317-318. Boards gave some scratches and darkening. Leather has lifted at the base of the spine . This is still an evocative and very readable volume for its age.
