The Challenge of Watercolour by John Blockley This book deals principally with landscape painting, helping the watercolour painter to find individual techniques with which to express his feelings. John Blockley is especially interested in the surface qualities and textures of a landscape. He employs traditional watercolour methods but introduces exciting and innovative techniques to bring out special, and often dramatic, effects. He uses materials such as wax resist, masking fluid and ink to highlight the nature of eroded stone, lichen-covered rock and other landscape features.
