The third volume in a series on Medieval history focuses on the period in Europe after the death of Charlemagne and the breakup of the Carolingian dynasty's empire and us on a tour through the 7th century till the mid-11th century as the various states throughout Europe developed. We are also treated to a selection of chapters on areas and topics slightly further afield, from the rise and fall of the Caliphate in Spain to discussions on feudalism, learning and literature in this time frame, and Byzantine and Romanesque art. This book is an extended commentary on many events and trends in Medieval Europe, with each chapter written by a scholar in their own field, making a great overview of this complex era. The book itself is an ex-library book, with the related stamps and stickers, in good-fair condition. There is some wear to the edges of the cover, and there is exposed webbing on internal hinges - but the actual content itself is clean and clear throughout, waiting to be read.
