One of the well-known 'Coloured Fairy Books' published across the end of the 19th/beginning of the 20th century, collecting fairy tales and traditional stories from across the world (the translation and editing of which was actually mostly done by Andrew Lang's wife, Leonora Blanche Alleyne, who gets no credit on the title pages!). This volume contains stories from the indigenous peoples of America, Australia, Africa, Lapland, Persia (Iran), Brazil, and India. 1914 new impression. With eight coloured plates and numerous black and white illustrations by H.J. Ford. Condition: Boards shelfworn, corner bumped to card, rubbed, dented, marked. Inscription to previous owner dated 1917 to front FEP. Pages tanned and with marks throughout, but all clearly readable. Internal hinges cracking throughout, but binding holds still.
