A lovely collection of children's verse by Edward Verrall Lucas, llustrated by Francis D. Bedford. 1st edition undated but 1889 Large format bound in pictorial paper covered boards with brown cloth spine. Titles on spine in gilt. The book is in fair condition, with worn boards, gilt on spine quite heavily rubbed. The half title has handling marks and part of the picture on front board is missing (see photo) .The edge of the pages show signs of wear and foxing reflects the age of the book. The book is illustrated on the half title, title and contents pages, and has 24 full colour plates, each with accompanying verse with decorative line-drawn borders. A still beautiful book, and rare in the first edition.
