A maroon leather- bound edition of the Book of Common Prayer with three decorated brass inlays to top bottom and front edge of back and front leather covers and with a brass hinged central clasp. Published Oxford University Press, 1857. Two raised embossed leather bands to top front, spine and back covers separate the brass inlays. All edges of text block gilt. Some page edges show very light tanning but otherwise text clean, clear and unmarked. Some minor shelf wear to top to and bottom leather spine. The hinged clasp fully functioning with slight detachment of top hinge mount from the spindle but the clasp closes crisply and firmly. The brass mountings show some light wear marks but these may well polish out. Front prelim recto carries an embossed bookseller stamp ' Dodsworth Booksellers & Stationers Newcastle on Tyne' and a handwritten dedication: ' To Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
