First published in 1910, this was a popular book which ran into further editions. Written by Dorothy Senior (about whom little can be discovered) and illustrated by Frank Watkins (1863-1929), it offered an accessible collection of tales about England's early heroic king and his Knights of the Round Table, aimed at children with some skill in reading. Our book is a 1930 copy, bound in red cloth with title and illustration of a knight and castle in black and buff colour on front and spine. External wear is surprisingly slight, given its age: some sunning of the spine, a slightly 'tired' appearance generally, minimal bumping of corners and shelfwear to top & tail of the spine. All edges of the textblock quite badly foxed. Inside, however, endpapers are intact and only lightly browned; webbing visible between frontispiece and title page; sewn binding generally firm (occasional weakness between gatherings); no loose pages; some foxing within the body of the book; colour illustrations all
