For a true 40s aesthetic, use plain or small print cottons, crepe and Rayon in navy, grey, rose pink and primary colours; or by shortening the hem to a mini skirt length and using an Op Art, psychedelic or monochromatic print, you can make Blitz into 60s style scooter dress. An improvised pocket, novelty print or tartan are all great modernisers, too. And who can resist a contrasting collar? And in case you thought Blitz was only suitable for daywear, think again! Use silk or velvet, and get creative with the collar using vintage or embroidered lace, or better still, remove it altogether
