Cloth covers frayed, particularly the spine, but gilt title still bright on front cover. Binding sound. Fly-paper removed. Pencil annotations on fep. No other markings. Yellowing paper but print still bright. Ill with decorations on many pages and framing of Poems. Dedicated to Queen Victoria. 80 pp. These seem to be original poems not copies. There is no list of contents but there some 20 poems in the first part, mostly celebrating the New Year or Festivals and a few commemorating events like the collapse of the spire of Chichester Cathedral, The latter part is entitled A Pleas for the Poor with sentences from Scripture interpolated with very short poems by the author. All is pleasantly presented. The date is written with a query on the title page. Thomas Trocke (1801-1882) was, as stated on the title page, Incumbent of the Chapel Royal, Brighton.
