The watch shape takes its cues from the original SeikoAlpinist,first launched in 1959 for JapaneseYama-otokomountain men, to be reliable in treacherous terrain. The green dial is inspired by the beautiful verdant slopes of the mountainous forestry areas of Japan. The Sunray dial reveals a different expression as the angle of vision changes. Highly visible Lumibrite markers are applied to the dial and the hands. An oversized screw-down crown sits beside the 3 oclock position and is protected by a crown guard built into the case, which increases the functionality of this watch. A further crown at 4 o'clock operates an inner rotating bezel that can be used for compass bearings.
