Two volume set, new edition published in 1891. Green cloth hard covers with gilt titles on the spines and gilt illustration and lettering on the fronts for Sheffield High School. Bevelled boards have a little wear at the corners and very light surface rubbing; the spines have bumping at the tops and bases. Gilt top edges, untrimmed fore edges which are foxed. Dark green endpapers, both front pastedowns are marked and a little damaged where labels have been removed. Foxing on the title pages and on the protective tissues for the illustrations through the text blocks. Hinge crack at the fly title page for volume II. Two substantial volumes containing legends of the angels and archangels, the evangelists, the apostles, the doctors of the church, and St Mary Magdalene as represented in the fine arts. Heavy books require courier delivery.
