1st US pressing of this excellent live LP from Jimmy Smith, recorded on 8th February 1972 at the Bombay Bicycle Club in LA. The set features Smith playing with a young new band who bring influences of rock and funk into the music, resulting in a funky, groovy feel which complements Smith's organ style well. The title track Root Down (And Get It) was later sampled by The Beastie Boys in their song Root Down. Both disc and sleeve are graded VG. There are a few surface scratches and marks to the disc which do not affect playback. The sleeve has some light shelf wear and a notch cut in the lower left hand corner.
