A musical version of Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet" complete with score, script, song lyrics and CD. Shakespeare's original text has been edited for young performers. The music is dramatic and varied, with fighting songs, dances and romantic solos, in both traditional and modern styles. Emotions range from entertaining comedy to the final tragic scene. There is plenty of scope for solo, group, and chorus parts. Two onstage choirs represent the opposing Montague and Capulet families. Suggestions for instrumentation are included. As an uplifting grand finale there is a lively reprise by the entire cast of selected songs from the play.
