From the electric locomotive of the series E 44 (from 1968 with the DB series 144) almost 200 locomotives were put in service from 1932 to 1954. The power of the four-axle bogie locomotives amounted to around 2,200 kW, with the highest speed being 90 km/h. The locomotives proved themselves in front of passenger trains as well as in front freight trains. Some locomotives were equipped with a shuttle train control and were thus used in suburban traffic in metropolitan areas. The E 44 - from which the series E 44.5, E 93 and E 94 were further developed - can rightly be described as one of the most reliable and most successful electric locomotives, as it helped the bogie design and the real-time bearing drive to a breakthrough.Selected models from the earlier Freilassing depot are modeled under the label "Edition Freising".
