Chevrolet® introduced the Camaroin 1967 to challenge Ford's incredibly popular Mustang. The original Z/28® debuted in the same year as the road version of the racing camaros, which entered the Trans-Am race series of the SCCA. The Camaro Z/28 won the Trans-Am manufacturing championship in 1968 and '69, and this success on the race track helped to strengthen the Z/28 reputation in performance. The third generation of the Camaro debuted in 1982 with a racially styled car and a new sloping rear body. Chevy® updated the external appearance of the Z28 for 1985, and highlights included a new front apron, a revised hood with simulated louvers and new tail lights. The Revell kit of the 85 series Z28® includes these details along with the "L69" 5.0 liter high-output V8 engine, which is supported by a 5 speed manual transmission. The 1:24 scale model also features the striking L/S Conteur interior with decals that allow paint to be painted in one of the three colors available at the factory. M
