Large areas of loss to spine, paper to covers darkened, rubbed and bumped with marks and scuffs. Internally good, forty full colour illustrations with calligraphy by Walter Crane, printed to one side only plus one page advert. All in nice condition, clean and unmarked, faint tanning to margins. This is an illustrated version of an epic poem about the allegorical figure ofQueen Summer, decorated throughout in stunning neoclassical style. The text and the artwork are presented as one, with Cranes full-colour pages illustrating the poetry. Crane (18451915), was an English artist and book illustrator and he was also one of the strongest contributors to the childs nursery theme. Cranes work is characteristically colourful and beautifully detailed, taking its inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement.
