Published in 1983, Poems presents a small selection of the poems of Margaret Cropper, 1886-1980, whose work also included plays, biographies, hymns and verse. Cropper grew up and spent much of her life in the former county of Wesmorland, though she often stayed in Ireland, having a particular concern for its history and folklore, and visited South Africa, helping friends who worked for the church. The selection was compiled and edited by her niece and goddaughter, Anne Hopkinson, with help from Michael Ffinch by whom the book's Foreword is written. The poems are arranged to emphasise Cropper's main interests and certain occasions in her life. This small hardback book is in generally good condition, although the front cover, illustrated with the title and the young poet's photographed portrait, is a little marked and dented through age. Pages and spine are good.
