Pillow Lace Volumes 1-3 Volume 1 Contains simple patterns of English Maltese Lace from the Midland Counties. This type of lace became popular towards the end of the Nineteenth century. The booklet contains instructions primarily for a beginner. Pillow Lace Volume 2 English Maltese Type Lace Edging with Corners. This book continues on from volume 1 and assumes the reader has worked through that book first. Pillow Lace Volume 3 Torchon Lace part 1. The word Torchon is of French origin meaning dishcloth. No doubt this name was given to the lace as it was of a coarser nature. It is sometimes referred to as Beggar lace. It is assumed that the reader has prior knowledge of working bobbins and working whole and half stitch. All three books contain paper patterns inside the rear covers and plenty of photographs and diagrams throughout the text. Vols 1 & 3 are featured in the image.
