For use on routes with a maximum wheel set load of 18 t a total of 298 unit express train locomotives of series 03 were built for the Deutsche Reichsbahn between 1930 and 1938. The last of the 86 machines stationed at the DR and partly reconstructed were in use until 1979.Arthur Honegger once devoted a musical composition to the elegant Pacific steam locomotives. With the 03, such a machine rolls into the PIKO range. The slim, high-lying boiler and the airy barrier frame with a clear view also characterize the silhouette of the machine in the model. The filigree gear appears particularly graceful with fine spokes and very plastic balance weights. The new construction has suitable attachment parts such as bells, pumps and lamps. Many boiler lines complete the outside impression. The engine and flywheel mass placed in the tender provide ideal driving properties. The ex-factory digital variants of the model have switchable lighting in the engine and on the driver's cab, as well as a red f
