Published 1895 by Bradbury, Agnew & Co. Hardback. Blue-green covers with gold lettering and red, silver and black decoration. Spine is very faded. Damp discoloration along the edge of front and back covers. Minor shelf wear and corners bumped. Binding is secure. Inside pages are age-tanned but otherwise clean. Gilt edging of pages is still reasonably bright. Fontispiece is a sepia photo of Charles Keene. This collection consists of several hundred pictures from 'Punch' magazine by artists such as Charles Keene, John Leech, G. Du Maurier, E.T. Reed and many others. They are taken from issues of Punch dating between the 1840s and mid 1890s. An index at the back lists which year and volume each picture comes from. Although the humour in some cartoons may escape us today, there is no doubting that this collection reflects the concerns and events of mid-late 19th century Britain.
