This teaspoon was made by Nobue Nishimura in Oketo, Hokkaido. It is longer than a typical teaspoon, and has a good sized spoon section. This makes it ideal for eating desserts, or for stylishly stirring your tea. It is a characteristic of Nishimura’s work to find hand made forms to fit the lives of their user. The spoons have a clear wood finish and are made from Hokkaido sourced wood (in this case birch wood). From a care perspective, it is not suitable for microwaves, dishwashers or abrasive sponges when washing. Each spoon is hand made, with small variations but are around 14cm long, and 2.3cm wide at the widest part of the spoon. **About Okecraft** The story of Okecraft is a story of a community, and of its sustainable reinvention. Situated in the Okhotsk region of northernmost Japan, Oketo is a settlement of around 2800 people. With a history of logging and agriculture, in the early 1980s it was looking for new project.
