Anna is on a mission to demystify death and stop it being swept under the carpet. All these ladies have in common is that they are widows of a similar age. We got to know them in The Last Taboo and whilst Cassandra has approached Janet with the offer of a job helping her to build a fitting monument to her late husband's memory, there is no apparent reason for the women to meet again in the future. However, as Cassandra brings her plans to set up refuges for troubled girls then boys she finds that there are gaps in areas of expertise that can be filled by both Katherine and Kelly. Brenda, who was responsible for getting Janet to go to the research meeting in the first place, is also brought on board so the story shows very real friendships and bonds developing between the women
