Mevlana Jelaleddin Rumi (known in the West as Rumi) was a spiritual masterhaving transformed from a learned theologian to an ecstatic lover of the Divine. After extensive study throughout the Middle East during his youth, he settled in Konya, in what is now modern-day Turkey. There he dedicated his life to spiritual teaching and composing a voluminous canon of mystical poetry. Now, over seven centuries later, the people of Turkey continue to be the keepers of these cultural and spiritual traditions.
