Duo of BBC biographies telling the stories of two of the world's greatest artists, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti. Both documentaries use a combination of dramatic reconstruction based on the artists' diaries and letters, critical commentary and modern-day artists' demonstrations of the techniques employed by the two great men. 'Leonardo', a three-part series presented by Alan Yentob, was made to mark the 500th anniversary of the painting of the Mona Lisa, which Leonardo began in 1503. Mark Rylance plays Leonardo in reconstructions of the artist's life, which are filmed on location in Italy.
