The cylindrical lampshade is covered by a plastic panel to prevent the interior from getting dusty. Using paper as a material for the lampshade creates a pleasant light, which provides general lighting or lighting for a dining room table for example. Le Klint, the Danish lighting manufacturer, is known throughout the world for its pleated lampshades. The paper or foil is pleated and shaped by hand. Prospective craftsmen at Le Klint must study this difficult technique for three years. Even the most modern machines can't perfect the techniques needed to produce these lampshades, so the Le Klint lampshades are still made by hand – which has been the case ever since Tage Klint founded the company in 1943.
