Ladders to Fire was first published in Britain in 1963 by Peter Owen Ltd. It is one of a series of novels portraying, as Anais Nin points out, 'four women in a continuous symphony of experience'. This special Village Press edition was for sale only at the Village Bookshop, Regent Street, London. This copy is in fair condition. There is some foxing to the edges of the pages and the spine, though this does not affect the text. The borders of the covers and spine present typical signs of wear. The thread that binds pages 16 and 17 is a little loose, though the pages remain secure.
