This rare booklet was issued by The Federation of Lace and Embroidery Employers' Associations, Nottingham for the British Empire Exhibition, 1924. The booklet outlines the connection of Nottingham to the lace industry, including a chapter on John Leavers and his lace-making machine and the increasing trade in lace. There are chapters on the Stand at the Empire Exhibition itself, the Nottingham School of Art, the Art Museum and University College. The arms of Nottingham City Council are on the ffep. A frontispiece photograph shows The Old Lace-maker. On the back of title page is a reproduction of the painting May Morning, Nottingham by Arnesby Brown, R.A., exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1922. Stapled booklet. Staples rusty. Covers have wear, and rear cover shows removal of label. Previous owner's name on front endpaper.
