All of this is achieved via the story of a boy who moves to a new house where he feels that he doesn't fit in and the only thing that reminds him of home are Mr Evans' pigeons which are kept by his neighbour in the house behind. Mr Evans is an old man, an ex coal miner, who also takes great pleasure from his pigeons and their flight.
