The book details the establishment of a cement works on Horrid Hill, using chalk brought from the shore, before 1908 by Cary and Bernard. It also discusses the works becoming part of British Portland Cement Manufacturers in 1911 and closing two years later. The book includes information on a wharf constructed prior to the works and a causeway linking it to the mainland. Not price clipped dust jacket in very good condition. Pages are clean and unmarked, spine strong and straight.
