Known for his complex and fragile installations, Kiaer groups architectural models, untouched or slightly modified found objects and two-dimensional work to create fragmented and poetic narratives. His work is layered with references to selected figures and concepts from the history of architecture, literature and philosophy. Bringing them under the sign of a common utopian impulse, towards physical and social integration of man and environment, Kiaer creates unexpected associations - intuitive rather than academic - between apparently distant subjects. For this exhibition Kiaer brought together both new and existing pieces to explore the work of three visionary architects: Frederick Kiesler, Kenzo Tange, and Claude-Nicolas Ledoux.
