Taken from back of book 'This book first presents in a clear overview the Gnostic movement in the first centuries of our era as a specific expression of a broad undercurrent in Western culture, which has exerted great influence from Antiquity to the New Age. In all forms of gnosis it was and still is about insight into the coherence of things (gnosis means knowledge), as personal liberation and knowledge of God in one. The tradition and content of Gnostic literature will be discussed, with attention to all authentic Gnostic texts.' Condition is very good overall. Front and rear hardcovers are noticeably scratched and finger marked, very mild bumping at the spine is noted but no chipping or edgewear. Block has a couple minor chips and scuffs, is otherwise in very good condition. Binding remains tight. The pages themselves are in excellent condition, no foxing, stains tears or other blemishes noted. The book also contains a bibliography of sources, an index and a
