This book is a sequel to the author's 1942 publication 'Modern Pattern Design', itself sufficiently successful to run to a second edition in 1945. She writes in a clear, authoritative, but friendly style, and chapter headings include 'Equipment', 'Cloth Structural Compositions', 'Harmony', 'Balance' and 'Proportion', all indicating that the writer is one who knows whereof she speaks. Our book is a true 1st edition, 1st printing copy, but lacks a dust jacket. The grey cloth covers, however, show only the slightest signs of wear or use, and are clean with a minimal darkening of edges. Title with motif on the front in purple, and title, author etc in purple lettering on the spine. Inside, striking purple & white endpapers are undamaged. Bookseller's label affixed to outer bottom corner of front pastedown. The binding is firm with no loose pages; all pages clean and bright; no sign of foxing.
