Folktales of Ireland Edited and Translated by Sean O'Sullivan This selection of Gaelic folktales, drawn from the original manuscripts in the archives of the Irish Folklore Commission, is mainly composed of international or national tales with a peculiarly Irish flavour. This collection contains eight long tales of kings and warriors, illustrating the craftsmanship of the original composers and the consummate skill of generations of storytellers who have retold them at Irish firesides. Another section is devoted to religious tales of saints and sinners, which are of particular interest in that they blend pagan and Christian sources. Other sections include tales of the Otherworld and preternatural powers of witches and magicians, and tales of the wise, the foolish, and the strong. This book is in Fair Condition. There is foxing to both covers and fore-edges, and the spine is creased. Pages inside are clean however, and the book is still readable.
