Exotic Aquarium Fishes: A Work of General Reference by William T. Innes William Innes (18741969) was an American aquarist, author, photographer, printer and publisher. He wrote numerous influential books and articles about aquarium fish, plants and maintenance during the formative years of the aquarium hobby in America. Innes is best remembered for 'Exotic Aquarium Fishes', which was printed by his family's firm in Philadelphia in 1935 and went through 19 editions. The book includes photographs taken by Innes for each fish species. These were shot in black-and-white and hand-painted, test-printed and then repainted to fine-tune the color for publication. The work quickly became a seminal work and has often been called 'the aquarium bible'. This second edition, published in 1935 is in good condition although the spine is slightly torn where the spine label is missing. The binding is firm and the pages unmarked. The name Maxwell Wright, May 1936 is printed on the title verso.
