The Fool: His Social and Literary History by Enid Welsford was first published in 1935 by Faber & Faber and this copy is a first edition. The red and black marbled cloth boards with pictorial spine stamped in gilt and black is in reasonable clean condition with some fraying top and bottom of the spine and to the corners. The binding is good with no splitting detected. The page edges are gilt at the top and uncut along the other two edges. Inside, there is a hand written dedication on the front loose endpaper and a hand written note attached to the half-title page, otherwise the 374 pages are clean and bright. There is some foxing spots to both ends and a few patches throughout. Overall, the book is in good condition.
